EPIDERMOLYSIS BULLOSA

APR TD011 is a clinical stage drug candidate for the treatment of blisters and wounds in EB patients.
The product thanks to its chemical-physical unique properties is expected to:
  • Reduce the bioburden allowing both prevention of the infection and ensure an antibioticsparing approach with no bacterial resistance.
  • Reduce the skin inflammation, which is highly linked with skin cancer and death.
  • Support a faster healing and allow a reduction risk of scar.
The proposed benefits are expected to be achieved thanks to the peculiar properties of the solution:
  • Control the bioburden: based on data generated so far it can be postulated that the presence of HClO, a well-known antimicrobial agent, could support a reduction of bioburden, as well as the unique pH/(Oxidation reduction potential) ORP create conditions unfavorable to bacterial growth.
  • Modulation of metallo-proteases (MMPs): the low pH of the product can decrease the activity of the alkaline-pH-dependent of metalloproteases (MMPs), which are the main triggers for inflammation process. High ORP values may also be involved in the inhibition of MMPs activity.
  • Modulation of inflammation mediators: molecular analysis shows APR TD011 to be able to modulate several inflammatory pathways.
  • Tissue regeneration properties: multi-level activity of APR TD011 could lead to an optimal conditions for new cells growth, thus supporting the physiological wound healing process.
